Bengals’ LB Vontaze Burfict Expected To Play Sunday

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the healthiest teams in the league. And they’ll be getting one of their few injured players back in action Sunday afternoon.

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Jim Owczarski of Cincinnati.com. Burfict suffered a knee injury over a year ago and was forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair it. He had returned to practice earlier in the week and was officially added to the 53 man roster today.

He had his best season in 2013, recording 115 tackles, three sacks, and one interception. Without him, the Bengals had been rotating linebackers based on the game situation. Burfict’s return should ensure some consistency although Owczarski cautions it’s unlikely for him to play the entire game.

The Steelers and Bengals kick off tomorrow at 1 PM/EST.
