Report: Steelers Work Out CB Robert McClain

Free agent cornerback Robert McClain has worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

McClain was a 7th round pick of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He played from 2012-2014 with the Atlanta Falcons, making 15 starts. The 5’9 180 pound cornerback recorded three career interceptions. He also returned 19 punts for the Falcons in 2013.

Of course, as Yates tweets, the Steelers are just one of eight teams McClain has worked out with. Teams working out players is a weekly occurrence and there is no reason to believe he will be immediately signed, although the injuries to Antwon Blake and Cortez Allen open the door. It’s particularly notable because workouts with the Steelers are not often made public, so they’re worth sharing when a name becomes available.
