2018 Steelers Draft Day: Everything You Need To Know

Today is the day. The 2018 NFL Draft.

Finally.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be picking 28th overall in this year’s edition. And Steelers Depot is here to get you ready. Here’s everything you need to know from the entire draft process.

The Skinny

Tonight’s draft kicks off at 8 PM/ET. You can watch it on a variety of channels – ESPN, FOX, and NFL Network. Round Two and Three begin tomorrow at 7 PM and for the final day, rounds four through seven, things get started Saturday at noon and runs throughout the afternoon/evening.

The Draft Order

You can check out the complete seven round order here. The Cleveland Browns are first on the clock and no one really knows who they’re selecting. The Giants, Jets, Browns again, and Broncos round out the top five. Like we said at the top, the Steelers pick 28th, which means you’re going to have to wait a couple hours for them to turn the card in.

The Pre-Draft Process

Several important links for you to take a look at. Here is the list of the players we know the Steelers interviewed at the Combine. Here are the ones who came in for a pre-draft visit, 23 in all.

And here is our Pro Day tracker, keeping an eye on where the Steelers coaches and scouts traveled over the last six weeks. Because it’s so critical for first round picks, here are all the campuses Colbert and/or Tomlin attended this year.

Alabama – KC + MT
Wake Forest – KC + MT
Virginia Tech – KC + MT
Oklahoma State – KC + MT
Penn State – KC
Georgia – KC
Ohio State – KC + MT
Louisville – KC + MT
LSU – KC + MT

The following links our the studies we’ve done for who, based on measurables, fit the Steelers the best.

Cornerbacks
Outside Linebackers
Inside Linebackers
Wide Receiver
Running Back

Here’s a study Dave Bryan did on the correlation between draft picks and all-star games. Another on how often the team drafts small school players, the offense/defense disparity in the Tomlin era , and the liklihood of them taking a player who didn’t attend the NFL Combine. Finally, here’s the correlation between pre-draft visits and draft picks.

The Mocks

Here are the final mocks of the Depot crew. I’ll include mine when it’s posted at 9:30.
