Four Steelers Players In ESPN Top 20 Of Any Era NFL Poll Of Pro Football Hall Of Fame Panel

ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine combined to put out list of the 20 current players who a 20-member Pro Football Hall of Fame panel and ESPN's very own John Clayton believe could excel in any era of the NFL. The top 20 was finalized today and four current Pittsburgh Steelers players made the top 10. Finishing 10th was linebacker James Harrison, finishing 8th was wide receiver Hines Ward, finishing 3rd was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and finishing 2nd was safety Troy Polamalu.
Harrison finished 4th as far as linebackers went behind Patrick Willis (7th), Brian Urlacher (5th) and Ray Lewis (1st). Read more [...]
Ravens Promote Dean Pees To Defensive Coordinator, Cam Cameron To Remain OC

Some news from the enemy today as it was announced a short time ago that the Baltimore Ravens have promoted linebackers coach Dean Pees to defensive coordinator to replace Chuck Pagano, who was named the Indianapolis Colts head coach earlier this week. Pees has coached the Ravens linebackers for the last two seasons after spending six seasons on the New England Patriots staff where he served as the linebackers coach and later as defensive coordinator after Eric Mangini left to coach of the New York Jets. Steelers Take Two Punches To The Nose On Thursday

While not totally unexpected and certainly on the horizon for a while now, the Pittsburgh Steelers officially took two punches to the nose on Thursday as it was reported the veteran nose tackle Casey Hampton would indeed require ACL surgery on the left knee he injured in the Wild Card game against the Denver Broncos and veteran backup nose tackle Chris Hoke made his retirement official.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is certainly not happy about offensive coordinator Bruce Arians being let go and he has spoke out about today to two different media outlets. Report: Casey Hampton Will Have ACL Surgery Friday

How quickly things change. Gerry Dulac reports that Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton said today that he will have surgery on Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Hampton injured the knee early in the Steelers AFC Wild Card game against the Denver Broncos and all of the early reports suggested that Hampton would not need surgery. Still No Surgery Needed For Brett Keisel & Casey Hampton

Another injury note I forgot to pass along today, but according to Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel this morning on DVE, he will not need surgery on his injured groin that forced him out of the AFC Wildcard game early against the Denver Broncos. Keisel told DVE when asked about his injury, "I'm healing up good, I'm healing up good. As of right now I am not going to need surgery, so that's a great thing and you know just back on the rehab wagon and get going." Keisel added, "I'm happy that I can just work myself back into getting in shape and it feels a lot better and I'm healing well."

Bob Labriola recently sat down for the second part of his one-on-one interview with Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney II and Rooney answered questions about full time officials, the new Steelers NIKE uniforms for 2012 as well as new throwback uniforms for next season as well. Labriola made sure to hit on the recent departure of offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and while Rooney seemed to dance around the question at first, he then seemed comfortable pinning the reasoning on the Arians on again, off again retirement talk. Ben Roethlisberger Says Swollen Ankle Will Not Sideline Him In Pro Bowl

A report this evening on NFL.com says that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told the media that his injured left ankle is still a little swollen, but not swollen enough to force him to sit out the 2012 Pro Bowl game this coming Sunday in Hawaii. Report: Chris Hoke Will Announce His Retirement On Thursday

Steelers Digest is reporting via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers veteran defensive lineman Chris Hoke will be holding a press conference on Thursday to announce his retirement. Hoke played 11 seasons with the Steelers after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Brigham Young in 2001.
Hoke dressed for 114 regular season games for the Steelers and recorded 83 regular season tackles, 2 quarterback sacks and had 1 fumble recovery as he mostly served as a back up nose tackle. Steelers Ryan Clark Named To AFC Pro Bowl Team

Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark has been added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster in place of Baltimore Ravens injured safety Ed Reed. This will be the first trip for Clark to the NFL’s annual all-star game. It was announced just a few days ago that linebacker James Harrison was added to the Pro Bowl as he will replace Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. At least three Steelers players have made the Pro Bowl every season dating back to 2001.
