The Steelers made kicker Jeff Reed a contract offer Sunday night through his agent. It was quickly rejected because they considered it far too low of offer. The Steelers normally do not negotiate contracts once the season starts, so that might of been the last offer to a soon to be free agent until after the season is over.

The Steelers will likely only dress 4 true receivers on gamedays making veteran Shaun McDonald the likely one inactive on Sundays baring injuries.

Dan Rooney returned to the Steelers practice facility yesterday and will be at the game against the Titans Thursday night. Rooney is currently living in Ireland and serving as a United States ambassador to that country.

By making the practice squad, center A.Q. Shipley will see his salary cut from the $310,000 had he made the roster to the $88,400 he’ll make if he’s on the practice squad for the next 17 weeks.
