Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch has a wrist injury that requires surgery and will sideline him for six weeks, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

This leaves the Steelers (6-4) in a precarious situation. Ben Roethlisberger left with 12:21 remaining in overtime after he took a knee to the helmet while being sacked in Sunday's eventual 27-24 loss to Kansas City.

Dennis Dixon will now become the number 2 quarterback and the Steelers will likely sign another quarterback on Tuesday.
