Steelers Six From Around The Web – Monday April 11th – Roethlisberger Do-over Edition

The latest Hearing from Coach Tomlin segment is up on and Mike Tomlin talks about pre draft visits, the draft process and other draft topics.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians would pass even more if it were up to them.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Judge Susan Richard Nelson told the NFL and NFL players that she will impose forced mediation on them early this week.

Scott Brown reports that Steelers president Art Rooney II remains “optimistic” the 2011 season will not be interrupted by the league\’s first work stoppage since 1987.

The 2004 draft do-over is up on and Pat Kirwan thinks the Chargers would draft Roethlisberger and not Eli Manning or Philip Rivers if there were a do-over knowing what they know now. Hindsight is always 20-20.

Santonio Holmes is making waves with the Jets lately and says he won\’t sign his one-year tender if he\’s deemed a restricted free agent and wants a new contract instead. You are really starting to see why the Steelers shipped him off last April as he is a walking distraction.

    Dave –

Loved this comment from Tomlin: “We all go into the offseason, the start of the new league year, with perceived areas of needed improvement, areas that you would like to address. And there are three ways in which to address them: free agency, the draft, and improvement from the players you already have. So we want to utilize all three areas, so the draft is just a component of getting better.”

Unfortunately, it appears that Steelers are not going to be able to accelerate the last component of that with their younger guys (not OTA’s, mini-camp, etc.). It would also help, IMHO, if during the negotiations with the union, Art II sounded more like Dan and the Chief that the two Jerry’s! He can say he is optimistic, but parroting the NFL line doesn’t endear him to the fans nor the players; nor does it lead to an agreement.
