Ben Roethlisberger Foundation Gives K-9 Grant To Houston Area Sheriff Office

Erik Barajas reports on KTRK in Houston that the Harris County Sheriff\’s Office received a $9,000 grant from the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation to help them purchase a 16th police K-9 dog. As Barajas reports, the Houston highways are a hub for dug traffickers coming out of Mexico and the HCSO K-9 unit only had 15 dogs in it\’s K-9 unit as of last week.

The grant from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will go straight to K94Cops, the organization that trains the dogs and supplies them to the Sheriff\’s Office. The dogs are trained to have two skills according to the report, either locate humans and drugs or to find humans and bombs.

Roethlisberger\’s foundation has a long history of providing dogs for Pittsburgh area law enforcement departments and other cities on the Steelers schedule.
