The Terrible Podcast – Rookie Camp Talk, Suggs, Seau, Saints & Ryan Lee Interview Episode

Steelers PodcastSeason 2, Episode 105 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I get right into things as the first rookie camp of 2012 got underway today for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We go over a few roster additions as well as the few players that have been invited in for try-outs.

After the intro David and I discuss the Achilles injury suffered by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs and how big of blow it is to the main rival of the Steelers. We discuss whether or not he will play at all in 2012 and how effective we expect he can be if he even does. Who move on to discuss the tragic suicide of Junior Seau and how his death could have an impact on the league down the road if it is indeed deemed that he suffered from post-concussion syndrome. This talk about Seau moves into us talking about the New Orleans Saints Bounty-gate issues and the suspensions passed down earlier this week to the players involved.

David and I discuss the Steelers depth at the running back position and bring up the possibility of another experienced running back being added to the roster prior to training camp beginning. We then move on to finally getting to a few emails from readers that have been sitting in the inbox and knock out a few them to start catching back up now that the draft is behind us.

45:08 Mark – In the last segment of this episode is my interview with guard Ryan Lee out of Furman. Ryan tells me what it was like for him in during the final hours of the draft and what took place during his pro days. Ryan talks to me about his great game against Florida and how excited he is to do anything that he can to make the Steelers 53 man roster. You can follow Ryan on Twitter at @RLee75 and please let him know you heard his interview on the podcast.

There is no doubt that the Seau and the Bounty Gate situations will change the game in the coming years, this discussion obviously is far from over, will it be different ? Yup, it has to be ! Losing too many greats for too many different reasons, similar to the loss of all the great musicians to drugs in a short period of time that changed the world of music (Hendrix, Joplin, etc…), these piling up of losses of NFL greats WILL change the world of football. Great interview with Ryan Lee, great questions and lots of answers that demonstrate why I am SO HIGH on this kid. That southern drawl “yes sir” cracks me up. Great Kid !!!! Thumbs up to Art junior, eh, junior, for finding this kid.

I’m real excited for Ryan Lee too.. Not sure if you had the chance but there is a little film of him out on you tube from that all star game he mentions in the pod cast of him playing OC. and man he is dead on.. Looked great for never have played the position. Position flexibility – I think we have heard Coach T mention that a few times. Best wishes and good luck!

Yep, seen it even in slo-mo, Kid has a few issues with left foot placement when he is bull rushed heavy on his left shoulder, but that can be coached up and he has DeCastro to compare himself to on a daily basis. Got to say seeing 66 & 69 on the same field even just in snapshot pictures makes me happy to see. Maybe I am just a nostalgic sort of guy!
