Season 2, Episode 118 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd and I start off with a hat tip to LaDainian Tomlinson, who announced his retirement on Monday. Is LT a first ballot Hall of Famer? We think so, easily. He was a hell of a fantasy football back to have as well.
Rashard Mendenhall turned 25 on Tuesday and we discuss if this will be the last one he celebrates in Pittsburgh, as he is an unrestricted free agent after the 2012 season. Mike Wallace had an interesting tweet on Monday and we discuss it as well as the article on NFL.com by Steve Wyche that states the Steelers cant sign both Wallace and Antonio Brown long-term. I call hogwash on that. How might James Harrison play into that? Listen to find out.
Will the Steelers take four or five quarterbacks to training camp? David and I give our thoughts on both Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson. Offensive line coach Sean Kugler talked about the offensive line on Monday and we discuss a few of his talking points from that interview. David and I also discuss if the Steelers might keep six or seven defensive linemen if Casey Hampton starts the regular season on PUP.
We wrap up with talk on several other topics including where the appeals stand on several New Orleans Saints players and how other players around the league are now sorry that they voted to ratify the current CBA with all of the power that Roger Goodell has moving forward. The 2012 training camp schedule for the Steelers has now been released and I make an offer to anyone attending camp this year to call in reports via a short interview when that gets going.
