Steelers Offensive & Defensive Snap Counts: Week 3 Raiders

Below are the week 3 official gamebook snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-31 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. These counts also include penalty plays in addition.

Offensively not much sticks out participation wise as the Steelers ran quite a bit of 11 personnel in the game that utilized 3 wide receivers on the field. The snaps for both Leonard Pope and David Paulson dropped from last week as the result. Jerricho Cotchery only saw the field for 5 plays. Baron Batch was used extensively in the second half and thus his high snap total. Rookie Kelvin Beachum saw limited snaps as he temporarily replaced the dinged up Marcus Gilbert. His first NFL snap was a false start, however.

On defense, the most surprising thing was just how few of snaps Steve McLendon (3) received in the game. The same goes for Cameron Heyward (5), who didn\’t see much more. While the Raiders were in no-huddle quit a bit, I figured the front line would have been rotated a bit more than it was. Chris Carter and Jason Worilds rotated outside as expected.

I will have further breakdowns of the Steelers offensive personnel used in the game later in the day.
