  • if big ben stays fit and healthy i’d take those odds.

200:1 is too generous to the Jaguars

Same with Jets at 75:1. They know that NY will play a rookie QB with almost zero offensive weapons, right?

I really like San Fran’s chances of winning. Really good team, top to bottom and they made some smart moves in the draft. They are going to be on top for quite a few years.

My heart says the odds should be better because the Steelers should be superbowl bound every year, but my mind sees where we are as a team thinks the odds are too high for what we have right now. But we can always get lucky!

Ever since the year after Ben was drafted, me and my friends have always bet on the Steelers to win the AFC championship. We stagger the amount we bet depending on the odds (usually about $300-400 per year) so that we always stand to win $4000. That way our Super Bowl trip is paid for (regardless of whether or not the Steelers actually win the big game).

So far it’s worked out well. We’ve been to all three recent Super Bowls. Plane tickets. Hotels. Food. And a scalped game ticket. All covered. Our total cost over the 8 year span has been $2400 (again that’s total). Quite a bargain in my opinion.

    Steelers were 14 to 1 in 2005 preseason, 20 to 1 in 2008 preseason, and 25 to 1 in 2010 preseason.

And remember betting odds are based not on what do the oddsmakers think are the odds the team will win, oddsmakers set line wherever they think they’ll receive same number of bets on each side of the line. They know Steeler nation has probly more fans worldwide than any team & many fans bet for their favorite teams to win. So oddsmakers setting odds at 25/1 for Steelers tells me the oddsmakers think Steelers are less-likely than 25/1 odds to win, i.e. Steelers actually only 50/1 odds of winning but Steeler fans would jump to bet Steelers in that case. Sorry for the ramble but my point is 50/1 is a far cry from our glory years of the Steelers when Steelers were always in the top 5 teams likely to win any Super bowl. This means oddsmakers think this Steelers squad is less likely to win Super bowl compared to any previous years’ Steelers team that I recall.

Brilliant is an understatement…if only I wasn’t a poor college kid.

  • rob.pghsteelersfan

Eagles are too high so are the Texans. Neither Schuab or Vick will ever win a SB.

  • StarSpangledSteeler

All the more reason to bet it, my friend. I was a poor college kid back when the Steelers went to Super Bowl XXX against the Cowboys. I knew the Steelers would make it to the big game that year but I didn’t have the guts to bet it. Instead I ended up watching it on TV. One of my biggest college regrets. I should’ve scraped up the $300.

Find a way, my friend. Find a way.
