The Terrible Podcast – 2013 NFL Draft Round One Recap & Jarvis Jones Selection Talk Episode

Steelers Podcast

Season 3, Episode 97 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and recap the first round of the 2013 NFL draft. We talk about a few picks that might have surprised us and what led to Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones still being on the board when the time came for the Pittsburgh Steelers to select.

We talk about Jones specifically and what we each expect for him as far as playing time goes. We differ in opinion on that. We also talk about what his selection means for linebacker Jason Worilds in addition.

With day two now here, we talk about possible targets for the Steelers in rounds two and three and pretty much agree on the direction they will go.

As always, thanks for listening and don\’t forget to call or email with questions or comments and please pass us along to your friends!

I think you’ll be counting snaps after a few games if 100 is the over under. The odds of Worlds and Woodly missing more than a half dozen games are better than the odds of Jones starting from day one.

  • steeltown

Even with Carter and A.Robinson (and lets be honest, Carter might not make the 53man after the Jarvis selection) but even with them on roster, I bet Jones gets well over 100 snaps.. i’d say closer to 200

Unless of course Woodley and Worilds play all 16 games.. but I wont hold my breath

  • SteelersDepot

Carter has the edge over Robinson right now. Don’t kick Carter out the door too soon.

  • Jason Brant

Of course he’s going to get 100 snaps on defense. The odds of Woodley not pulling a hammy are slim to none.

Hell, even without someone getting injured, that’s only 6 snaps a game. He’ll get that, even if it’s just in junk time.

I can see lacy falling if not taken by Niners,Cincy,Jets. However do you take Lacy or Hunter,Woods or Allen? What if Manti or Arthur brown are on the board?

  • Maurice_hill_district

Carter was the default starter over Robinson only because of experience in NFL. We’ll have this year’s camp & preseason games for Robinson to show he will pass up Carter by the time the last cutdown day occurs. Wouldnt surprise me if Robinson rises above Carter during camp based on impact & upside.

  • Jason Brant

Agreed, except that Carter will most likely make the roster. The rest of the draft dependent, of course, they’ll keep him because the odds of Worilds being around next year aren’t good. We need the depth.

  • steeltown

True.. I’ll reserve judgment till after training camp

  • SteelerDave

I would absolutely love to see Brown be the pick in round two and Swope the round three pick and Taylor/Randall/Latimore the 4th round pick.

Jones plus Brown = we have OLB and ILB both of which have huge potential. Swope brings speed and nose for the end zone. Latimore may not play this year but with a year of recovery he will be awesome. Add a back like Davis in round 6 and Latimore doesn’t need to rush recovery.

  • Auther Brown in the 2nd, Swope in the 3rd. We have to go ILB,WR and FS/SS or Rb today. DaRick Rodgers in the 3rd would be a big time play maker.
