Free Agent RB Ahmad Bradshaw Agrees To One-Year Deal With Colts

I have stated all offseason that I didn\’t think free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw would be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013, and now you can forget all about it possibly happening as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Tuesday on Twitter that the former member of the New York Giants agreed to a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Steelers kicked the tires of the 27-year-old running back prior to the 2013 NFL Draft when they brought him in for a visit while he was still recovering from offseason surgery on his troublesome right foot, but that\’s pretty much where things ended despite the media saying that a future visit would likely take place.

The Steelers were more than likely just checking out Bradshaw, in case they weren\’t able to draft a running back early in the draft, but once Michigan State running back Le\’Veon Bell was selected in the second round; it pretty much ended the possibility of Bradshaw coming to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers didn\’t ignore the running back position completely during free agency; however, as LaRod Stephens-Howling was signed just prior to the draft. The former Arizona Cardinals running back was added to the roster to compete against Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and Baron Batch in training camp and odds are he\’ll likely make the roster as we sit here in early June.

The Steelers wrapped up their first mandatory mini camp practice of the 2013 season on Tuesday and appear to be comfortable with carrying only six true running backs on their 90 man roster.
