The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Signings, Titans Game Wrapup & Joe Reedy Interview Episode

terriblepodcast

Season 4, Episode 19 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I go over the transactions that took place on Monday after our last episode ran and discuss new Pittsburgh Steelers center Fernando Velasco and whether or not he should start Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. We also talk about the injury report and also recap the Tuesday Mike Tomlin press conference and

We move on to give our final thoughts on the Steelers loss to the Tennessee Titans and spend extra time talking about the play of the offensive line and the personnel groupings used in that game. The Steelers really need to get fullback Will Johnson back this week, so that gets a little of our time as well.

What is going to happen on defense now that Larry Foote has been lost for the season? We tell you why Vince Williams needs more playing time moving forward even if it is only as a two-down linebacker.

In part two of the show, we are joined once again by Joe Reedy, who covers the Bengals for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Reedy, as usual, does a great job of discussing the Bengals offense and defense as they prepare for the Monday night game. Make sure you follow him on Twitter at @joereedy for all of the latest Bengals news leading up to the game and you can read his work online here.

At the end of the show we get to a few reader emails before running out of time.

As always, a few more talking points are mixed in over the course of the show.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.
  • Intropy

Kudos (without commenting on the wisdom of it) to Suisham for not only being able to keep kicking while hurt, but also kicking a nearly perfect onside kick which Carter completely alligator armed.

  • Intropy

I have a solution that solves three big problems: injured center, immediate pressure, and not enough downfield throws.

    Fake punt on every down.

You get Greg Warren out there instead of a center. Pressure will take some time just by virtue of distance. And Roethlisberger will be so far behind the line of scrimmage that every throw counts as down field!

  • Addison

Haha, why why couldn’t it oh been you Gilbert WHY… Nice Dave

  • SteelersDepot

I warned that it would not come out right.

  • Intropy

I get what you’re saying about maybe having to draft a left tackle early next season, but
    1) I think that might be a bit too soon to give up on Gilbert. It would be different if he’d been nothing but a bust, but he’s had some good times with the bad.
    2) If Gilbert is such a failure that you have to replace him, have you seen anything that suggests the Steelers FO is capable at evaluating college linemen? If that’s your blind spot draft-wise, then it makes more sense to go with veterans there and spend your draft picks at positions you can actually judge.

  • Addison

Everyone is thinking the same thing. You just had the grapefruit to say it
