Steelers Make LB Jarvis Jones Inactive; Dress Eight Offensive Linemen

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones will miss the first game of his young NFL career Sunday, as the first-round draft pick has been listed as inactive for the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jones, who suffered a concussion last week against the New York Jets, failed to do much in practice this past week and as a result will not play. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by Jason Worilds.

In other inactives news, the Steelers will dress eight offensive linemen for the first time this season as Mike Adams, Cody Wallace and Guy Whimper are all dressed for the game.

In a bit of a surprise, cornerback Curtis Brown was listed as one of the seven inactives for the game.

Curtis Brown and Ziggy Hood should be inactive for the rest of the season.

  • Christopher Wilkes

    Why is Whimper playing RT?

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

    You are kidding right?

  • Virdin Barzey

No I’m not. Just watch them play and its painful obvious. You might want to spend some time focusing on their play during the game.

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

Ziggy hood? He’s been our best run-stuffer this whole season… sigh I’m not gonna even bother arguing with you. Can’t talk reasons with a man who can’t be reasoned with.

  • Riverstko

Thumbs Up Whimper Good Job! The Oline held up Today!

  • Virdin Barzey

You’re right. That’s one I’m definitely not going to reason with because you are dead wrong. Its not personal though some how you think it is. I respect all those in Steeler Nation but with all due respect I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Have you even looked at his stats? Did you know Ziggy was benched again today? He’s not injured. I’ll let you figure out why he did not play since he’s our best run stuffer. Lets see if they retain our best run stuffer at the end of season since his contract is up.

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

Call it a game strategy. That stop by McLendon on 3rd and 1 where they absolutely dominated B. Pierce? Ziggy Hood was occupied by 2 blockers and still got to Pierce right before McLendon got the whole body.

Hence, our currently best run-stuffer. The Ravens are struggling badly with the running game and it shows today, we didn’t respect the running game and it paid off. Look at scouting reports throughout 6 games, they will tell you Ziggy Hood is our best run-stufer and the fact that Cameron Heyward got start has more to do with Heyward’s overall game than Ziggy Hood’s limitations. Hood is still getting plenty snaps; he’s just not starting.

Of course, no you just got to bash everybody. Bingo.

  • Virdin Barzey

Your selling but I’m not buying and neither is most of us in Steeler Nation. Our best run-stuffer is Ziggy. Unbelievable. We are done here. He loses his starting job due to his limitations in a contract year for him. So guess we decided not to start our best run-stuffer for two straight game. Dude, you got it. Nothing to see here folks.

  • Alexander Sebastian Heath

Ziggy hood get in when vince williams/brett Keisel gets out. There are reasons for that as it is a schematical move. You want your opposite quarterback to stick to his original plays, not making any audible calls. The moves like this give us more versatility in forcing the QB guessing and it worked. Mind you, I’m not pimping Ziggy Hood as the best D-lineman and understand this, being the best run-stuffer has a smaller meaning/importance in today’s game.

Casey hampton proved that last season. Cameron Heyward is our best read and react player, that’s why he is starting. Brett keisel just is that good at pass-rushing as McLendon is our best pentrating player. The talent has dropped but evolved around today’s game. Ziggy Hood, non-starter or as one still is a meaningful contributor. His role is very important in 3rd down and 1, goal line situations as well. He may have been a bust as a 1st round but his contribution is bigger than Mendenhall. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.

In a few occasions, Ziggy played UT with four-men rush and it works. Haven’t seen this much this year but last year we sure did.
