Steelers Open As Five Point Favorites Over Browns In 2014 Season Opener

The 2013 NFL schedule was released on Wednesday and it didn’t take long for the Week 1 betting lines to follow.

According to Covers.com, the Pittsburgh Steelers opened up as five point favorites over the Cleveland Browns for the season opening game that will be played September 7th at Heinz Field.

The last time the Steelers opened a regular-season against the Browns was in 2007 and they won that road game 34-7. It also was the first game for Mike Tomlin as the Steelers head coach.

Tomlin is now 12-2 all-time against the Browns in the seven seasons he’s been in Pittsburgh.

As for the Browns, they’ve gone winless in their last 13 regular-season openers and 1-14 since their rebirth in 1999. Their last win to start a season came in 2004 when they beat the Baltimore Ravens 20-3 at home.

The Steelers are 0-3 in their last three season openers with their last win coming in 2010 when they beat the Atlanta Falcons 15-9 at home in overtime.
