Former Steelers CB Terry Hawthorne Already Done With CFL

Well, Canada didn’t last long for former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Terry Hawthorne.

According to Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun, Hawthorne has already left the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to return to school. Hawthorne, who was drafted by the Steelers in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft, had just signed with the CFL team on Sunday.

I’m guessing that if Hawthorne plays football again that it will be with an AFL team. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago there was talk of him perhaps being one of the top defensive players in the 2013 draft when his time was up at Illinois.

In other CFL news that includes former Steelers players, Thaddeus Gibson appears to be fitting in nicely as a rush defensive end with the Toronto Argonauts.

Gibson, who was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, bounced around with several NFL teams before finally making a run for the Great White North.

Always liked that name, Thaddeus Gibson

God how bad is Hawthorne not to even make a practice squad

Most likely the decision has to do with CFL players overwhelmingly voting to reject the latest CBA offer from the league. The pittance you can make in the CFL is even less when you’re on strike…

I believe it’s his knee. The injury there probably did not heal right and that’s made him worthless as a player. That sort of knee injury once was a sports career killer even with the best surgery money could buy. Now every once in a while a guy just never recovers.

Maybe the NFL could use a minor league. Some just take a while to develope. The dream is over so fast in the NFL

    No word on Limas? _^o^_/
