Panthers Waive Former Steelers Draft Pick, WR Toney Clemons
A few of the early cuts are starting to come in as teams are working towards getting their rosters down to 75 by Tuesday afternoon. The Carolina Panthers are one team that’s not wasting down getting down to the number and it’s already being reported that wide receiver Toney Clemons has been waived.
Clemons, who was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 231st overall pick in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Colorado, spent most of his rookie season on the Steelers practice squad before being signed off of it by the Jacksonville Jaguars late that November
After failing to make the Jaguars 53 man roster out of training camp in 2013, Clemons was signed to the San Diego Chargers practice squad. He ultimately landed on the practice squad of the Panthers last October.
During his sort NFL career, Clemons has caught three passes for 41 yards in the four games he played in with the Jaguars.
