Report: Cardinals RB Jonathan Dwyer Investigated For Domestic Violence

Things appear to be getting worse for the NFL when it comes to domestic violence as KTAR in Arizona is reporting that Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was questioned Wednesday in a domestic violence investigation at the Phoenix Police headquarters.

CBS News is reporting on Twitter that Dwyer was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault and preventing someone from calling 911.

Dwyer, who was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals back in March after playing his first four years in the league in Pittsburgh.

The Wednesday report on Dwyer comes on the heels of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy both being placed on the Commissioner’s exempt list over the course of the last 24 hours as both face child abuse and domestic violence charges, respectively.

Earlier this month, former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL following his release after previously receiving a two game suspension following him knocking out his then-fiancee in a casino hotel elevator back in February.

Dwyer is married and has a son. He has rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries so far this season with the Cardinals.

More on this as the details emerge.
