Steelers Bring Cornerbacks Steven Nelson, Darryl Roberts, Bryce Callahan In For Pre-Draft Visits

The Pittsburgh Steelers will need to wrap up their pre-draft visits this week and on Monday the team brought in a trio of cornerbacks, according to Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest.

The Monday list is headlined by Oregon State cornerback Steven Nelson, who is one of my favorite mid-round prospects. While he’s just a tad under-sized, Nelson showed over the course of the last two seasons that he could go toe-to-toe with some of the top wide receivers in the country. He’s also a very physical player who is not afraid to help out against the run.

Also visiting Monday were Marshall cornerback Darryl Roberts and Rice cornerback Bryce Callahan. Robert is an excellent later-round prospect and it’s been rumored for the last few weeks that the Steelers were interested in him.

The Steelers have now brought in six cornerbacks for pre-draft visits so far as Marcus Peters, Alex Carter and Senquez Golson have already been to Pittsburgh to visit with the organization.

    1. Marcus Peters (if he’s there. If not, trade back n get Jalen Collins)
    2. Nate Orchard
    3. Steven Nelson
    4. Adrian Amos
    5. Trey Flowers (Kikaha could slip here)
    6. Matt Jones
    6. Wes Saxton
    7. Highest rated OL/WR on the board left. (Wr more than likely)

Steven Nelson or Doran Grant in the 3rd, please

Bryce Callahan is a name I haven’t heard much at all.

  • Ike Evans

Did u have flowers in your other mocks?

  • Bill Sechrengost

Callahan played in the East West Shrine game, only listed at 5′ 9 1/8″, though.

I would be VERY happy with that draft. If you traded Flowers for a TE in the 5th and picked up NDST OLB Kyle Emanuel in the 6th I would do backflips for that haul.

  • Matt Manzo

Good one! I like the thought of Flowers as the 2nd OLB! He might not be a great pass rusher but I love his strength and ability against the run.
Only change I’d make is maybe a more athletic RB.

Some of them. In others I addressed other needs to spread it out but realistically, the steelers are doubling dipping at cb n olb.

Flip that and your probably more closer to where those two will go most likely, in fact both could go in the 3rd

Bryce Callahan had a 43″ vertical.

    So, at least there’s that.

I really like Darryl Roberts as a sleeper pick. He could be a real find for us. We may be able to get him as a UDFA, but if he’s drawing interest from other teams, then we may have to draft him in the later rounds. I’ll be looking to see where he goes. I liked his measurables and his tape. Really looking forward to this draft. Can’t wait to see who we get!!!!
