Steelers vs. Rams Injury Report: Shazier, McCullers Ruled Out On Friday

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier (shoulder) had a career game last week against the San Francisco 49ers but the shoulder injury that he suffered during the later portion of that contest will wind up keeping him out of Sunday’s Week 3 game against the St. Louis Rams.

Shazier, who registered 15 total tackles last Sunday, was ruled out on the Friday injury report after failing to practice all week. He will more than likely be replaced in the lineup by either Sean Spence or Vince Williams. Both, however, could see action in Sunday’s game regardless of which one actually starts.

Nose tackle Daniel McCullers (knee) was also ruled out on Friday. McCullers also failed to practice all week after suffering a left knee injury in the second half of the game against the 49ers. With McCullers out, rookie L.T. Walton figures to be the defensive lineman who will dress in his place against the Rams. Rookie Caushaud Lyons is also an option.

Cornerback Cortez Allen (knee) ends the week listed as questionable, so there’s a good chance he sits out a second-consecutive game. Cornerback William Gay (not injury related), wide receiver Markus Wheaton (chest) and defensive end Cameron Heyward (elbow) all end the week listed as probable.
