Steelers Will Johnson Has Talked With Multiple Teams At Start Of Free Agency

Will Johnson was one of several Pittsburgh Steelers players allowed to test free agency this year and he’s reportedly already had a few teams that might be interested in signing him.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Johnson has already talked with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans at the start of free agency.

While Johnson can function as both a fullback and tight end in addition to being an emergency running back, he wasn’t used very much last season by the Steelers. In fact, former undrafted free agent Roosevelt Nix easily passed Johnson on the team’s depth chart at the fullback position last season.

While Johnson might very well have a few teams interested in signing him, it’s hard to believe he will ultimately sign a contract for much more than the minimum.

Johnson has eight career carries and 31 receptions in his first four years in the league. The former undrafted free agent out of West Virginia has also been a core special teams player.
