The Pittsburgh Steelers are back at work on Monday following the bye week as they prepare to take on the 3-1 Philadelphia Eagles this coming Sunday at Heinz Field.
Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports this afternoon via Twitter that linebacker James Harrison (knee) and safety Troy Polamalu (calf) both practiced on Monday, but that enthusiasm for both should be contained until Wednesday rolls around.
That said, Polamalu, who has missed the last two games due to a strained calf suffered in the opener at Denver, said last week that he is optimistic that he will be able to return

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid met the local media Monday morning following their Sunday night win over the New York Giants and he addressed the injury situation of the team coming out of the game as they prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at Heinz Field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will get back to work on Monday as they prepare to host the 3-1 Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday at Heinz Field and they hope to do so with a few extra healthy bodies in uniform, specifically two former first round draft picks. In addition, all three bodies look to help in all three areas of the game.
Running back Rashard Mendenhall, who tore is right ACL in the season finale last year against the Cleveland Browns, looks likely to make his season debut on Sunday and the running game could certainly use whatever spark that he can provide. Through the first three games the

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports on Sunday that he spotted Pittsburgh Steelers rookie right guard David DeCastro "walking briskly without a limp" as he left the Saturday game between WVU and Baylor.
DeCastro, who suffered a severe right knee injury in the Steelers preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, attended the game with his former teammate, and current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, as both the Steelers and the Colts are on a bye this week.
Luck of course is the son of WVU Director of Intercollegiate Athletes, Oliver Luck.
DeCastro was placed on the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers might not have linebacker James Harrison for their week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it is looking good that safety Troy Polamalu will be back in uniform following the bye week.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Saturday morning that Polamalu, who has missed the last two games with a strained calf, is optimistic that he will be ready to go a week from Sunday.
The Steelers all-everything safety practiced on both Tuesday and Wednesday of this past week. "It feels much better," Polamalu said via the paper.
The Steelers defense has lacked splash

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Thursday morning that Bill Parise, the agent for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison, has admitted that his client has suffered yet another setback with his left knee.
It was reported on Wednesday that Harrison left the Steelers practice facility prior to the team working on Wednesday after his knee did respond well to the work he received Tuesday in practice. Harrison had posted his optimism Tuesday night on Twitter that Wednesday would be a key day for him as he looks to return from a knee procedure that was performed in mid August.
"It's

We told you on Tuesday that Wednesday would be a key day for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison, and it appears that all might not have gone well today.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports via Twitter that Harrison left the Steelers facility in street clothes before practice on Wednesday. As Bouchette adds, that is not a good sign.

Earlier today it was reported that Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison (knee) was able to practice, but no word was given as to what extent of work he was given.
Harrison removed all of the mystery by taking to Twitter Tuesday afternoon to say that he indeed did practiced fully today, and that he hopes everything goes well on Wednesday.

Obviously the key now is to see if the knee handles the Tuesday work and if it swells over the next 24 hours. If Harrison is able to go fully on Wednesday as well, that would be very

The Pittsburgh Steelers now head into their bye week following their 34-31 loss Sunday against the Oakland Raiders and hopefully they come out of the backside of it a healthier unit.
While head coach Mike Tomlin did not give any injury updates during his post game press conference, it was obvious that tackle Marcus Gilbert (groin) aggravated his groin injury and that defensive end Ziggy Hood (leg/knee) suffered some sort of injury to his left leg or knee late in the game. We will not hear from Tomlin until a week from Tuesday, so it is unlikely we will learn more about those two injuries until

Below is a player by player look at the Pittsburgh Steelers from an overall health perspective as they prepare to take on the Oakland Raiders. A complete rundown of the players currently on the injury report this past week.
James Harrison (knee) - Harrison failed to practice any for a second full week in a row and you have to wonder what might be really be going on with his knee. He had his procedure done over 5 weeks ago, but he can't seem to get back on the practice field. The Steelers have a bye next week and if he does not practice during the week leading up to the week 5 game against the

The Friday injury report for the Oakland Raiders is now out and it shows that tackle Khalif Barnes (groin) and cornerback Shawntae Spencer (foot) both sat out on Friday as expected and are listed as out for the game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Second-year tackle Willie Smith reportedly has taken the majority of reps in place of Barnes during practice with Tony Bergstrom also getting work at the right tackle spot. Free safety Michael Huff has been splitting time at safety and cornerback this week due to all of the injuries the Raiders have suffered.
Running back Mike Goodson (hamstring)

The Pittsburgh Steelers Friday injury report should provide a little clarity as to whether or not running back Rashard Mendenhall will make his season debut on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.
While Mendenhall reportedly continues to look good in practice as he continues to recover from his torn ACL suffered at the end of last season, the Steelers will be careful with him upon his return to the lineup according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Wednesday.
"When the green light is given, you still have to be smart with a guy has been out a good part of a year and seeing his first live

The Thursday injury report is still a few hours away from being released, but the early word from several in the Pittsburgh media via Twitter is that both safety Troy Polamalu (calf) and linebacker James Harrison (knee) will not practice today.
The news is not surprising as Harrison has yet to practice fully dating back to the first week of OTA's and Polamalu has not practiced since the season opener in Denver. With the bye week following the Sunday game against the Oakland Raiders, you can likely expect that head coach Mike Tomlin will rule both players out for Sunday on the Friday injury report.

If you happen to own Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger or wide receivers Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown in your fantasy league, you really should consider putting them in your lineup this week, as the Oakland Raiders have serious issues right now at the cornerback position thanks to injuries.
In their week one game against the San Diego Chargers, the Raiders lost starter Ron Bartell for several weeks to a broken shoulder blade. To make matters worse, they lost their other starting cornerback Shawntae Spencer against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday for several weeks to a sprained
