On Wednesday the Steelers started practice preparations for the week 17 game versus the Cleveland Browns. S Ryan Clark (shoulder), LB James Harrison (hip), RB Willie Parker (not injury related), DE Aaron Smith (not injury related), CB Deshea Townsend (not injury related) and WR Hines Ward (not injury related) all sat out practice. Clark as already been ruled out for this week. QB Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) practiced fully on Wednesday. The Steelers will practice in the late afternoon on Christmas day.

There is an outside chance he will be held out to be ready for the playoffs. Tomlin opened with stating the team needed to improve in two areas after watching the Patriots game tape. After a four day weekend the Steelers returned to work on Tuesday in preparation for the New England Patriots. Mike Tomlin addressed the media at noon for his weekly press conference. Steelers starting defensive end Brett Keisel has reportedly suffered only a sprained left knee against the Bengals and is expected to miss the next few games according to reports. The injury was feared at first to be more serious. Although missing a few weeks will be bad, it is much better than being out for the year. Keisel hopefully will be available come playoff time, should the Steelers advance that far. Travis Kirschke is expected to fill in in the absence of Keisel. CB Bryant  McFadden (forearm), T Marvel Smith (back) and CB Deshea Townsend (hamstring) are all listed as out this week with McFadden being the only one to work on a linited basis on Wednesday. TE Matt Spaeth (wrist) was again limited on Wednesday and is officially listed as questionable on the injury report. On a positive note, TE Heath Miller is not on the injury report and practiced fully on Wednesday.

The Steelers held an afternoon practice on Tuesday for the Thursday night game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. T Marvel Smith (back) and CB Deshea Townsend (hamstring) both sat out practice as expected and have already been ruled out this week.
