The injuries in the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary forced the team, to make a roster move on Tuesday as veteran cornerback Justin King was signed to the 53 man roster.
King, a Penn State product, had worked out for the Steelers a few weeks ago after Ike Taylor suffered his right ankle injury.
King was originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fourth round of the 2008 draft and played for the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season prior to his release.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall has been reinstated to the team on Monday following his one week suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Upon his reinstatement the team asked for and received a 24 hour roster exemption which means that they now have until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday to make a corresponding roster move to make room for him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Wednesday that they have signed back wide receivers David Gilreath and Derek Moye to practice squad along with cornerback Isaiah Green. Wide receiver Bert Reed was released to make room.
The team had two open spots on the practice squad after cornerback Josh Victorian was promoted this past Saturday and running back Baron Batch was promoted on Tuesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game for conduct detrimental to the team according to steelers.com. Baron Batch has been promoted from the practice squad to replace him on the 53 man roster.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Mendenhall was suspended because he failed to show up at Heinz Field for the game against the San Diego Chargers after being told he would not dress for the game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers now have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back somewhat healthy and with cornerback Ike Taylor now sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury, the team decided to waive quarterback Brian Hoyer on Saturday and promote cornerback Josh Victorian from the practice squad to take his spot on the 53 man roster.
Hoyer served as the backup quarterback for the last two games after Byron Leftwich injured his ribs in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 11. His stay on the roster was expected to be a short one.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a practice squad roster move on Tuesday as it was announced that cornerback Josh Victorian has been brought back and that wide receiver Derrick Moye was released to make room for him.
The Steelers needed Victorian back because the fractured ankle suffered by Ike Taylor early in the win over the Baltimore Ravens has thinned the depth. Taylor is expected to be sidelined at least two weeks and maybe longer.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday morning that they had signed tackle Joe Long and guard Justin Cheadle to the practice squad to fill the spots that previously belonged to Toney Clemons and John Malecki.
In addition to those signings, Bob Labriola now reports that former FSU wide receiver Bert Reed has also been signed to the practice squad and to make room for him cornerback Josh Victorian was released.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had two open spots on their practice squad after promoting guard John Malecki to the 53 man roster on Monday and losing wide receiver Toney Clemons to the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Wednesday they filled those two spots with offensive linemen as Bob Labriola reports they have signed tackle Joe Long and guard Justin Cheadle to the practice squad.

The Pittsburgh Steelers waived wide receiver David Gilreath on Monday to make room on the roster for offensive lineman John Malecki, who was promoted from the practice squad. On Tuesday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed Gilreath off waivers and signed him to their 53 man roster.
The Steelers were likely hoping that Gilreath would clear waivers so that he could be signed back to their practice squad today. The team currently has two spots open on the practice squad as wide receiver Toney Clemons was signed away by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a couple of roster moves on Monday as tackle Marcus Gilbert has been placed on injured reserve with his ankle injury. Wide receiver David Gilreath was also waived.
The Steelers filled those two spots by activating rookie guard David DeCastro from the Reserve/Injured; Designated to Return List and promoting guard/center John Malecki to from the practice squad.
Gilbert suffered an injured tendon in his ankle in the game against the Tennessee Titans back in Week 6. He tried to practice two weeks ago for the first time but must have suffered a setback.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have one less wide receiver on their practice squad right now as the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Toney Clemons to their 53 man roster today.
Clemons was drafted by the Steelers as their first of four seventh-round picks (231st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Colorado.
The rookie registered just one catch for 14 yards during the preseason for the Steelers in limited action after having a hard time catching the ball during training camp.

On Tuesday the Pittsburgh Steelers waived linebacker Marshall McFadden and running back Baron Batch to make room on the 53 man roster for wide receiver Plaxico Burress and quarterback Brian Hoyer. On Wednesday both McFadden and Batch cleared waivers and were signed to the practice squad.
To make room on the practice squad for the two players the team released guard Ryan Lee and tight end Jamie McCoy.

The decision has been made. The Pittsburgh Steelers officially announced on Tuesday that they have waived linebacker Marshall McFadden and running back Baron Batch to make room for wide receiver Plaxico Burress and quarterback Brian Hoyer, who were both signed to the 53 man roster after working out for the team Tuesday morning.
McFadden had been promoted to the 53 man roster last week after Chris Carter was placed on injured reserve and Stevenson Sylvester was down with a hamstring injury. It is expected that McFadden will be signed back to the practice squad after clearing waivers.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin comfirmed during his Tuesday press conference that the team will indeed sign one quarterback and one wide receiver to the roster today.
Several media outlets are reporting that free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress and quarterback Brian Hoyer are the players that will sign after they worked out for the team earlier in the day.
"He's in great physical condition, based on the workout I just saw," Tomlin said at his Tuesday press conference about Burress. "He drops his weight into his routes real well, and obviously, he knows football."

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Thursday that they have promoted linebacker Marshall McFadden from the practice squad to the 53 man roster and placed linebacker Chris Carter on the injured reserve list with an abdominal injury.
McFadden, who led the Steelers in tackles during the preseason, passed along the news via Twitter on Wednesday that his promotion might be on the way. McFadden is a product of South Carolina State who went undrafted in 2011. He has been on the Steelers practice squad the entire season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they re-signed rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu to the practice squad.
Ta'amu had been released from the 53-man roster on Monday when the Steelers promoted wide receiver David Gilreath from the practice squad because of the ankle injury to wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Ta'amu cleared the 24 hour waiver period on Tuesday at 4 p.m. eastern and was then a free agent.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a roster move on Sunday as wide receiver David Gilreath was promoted from the practice squad to the 53 man roster and rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu was waived to make room for him.
The Steelers made the move because wide receiver Antonio Brown has been ruled out for the game Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs with an ankle injury that he sustained in the first half of the game last Sunday against the New York Giants.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a practice squad move on Wednesday as Bob Labriola reports via Twitter that wide receiver Derek Moye has been signed and tight end Jamie McCoy has been released.
The move was likely made because of the ankle injury suffered by wide receiver Antonio Brown in the 24-20 win this past Sunday over the New York Giants. The Pittsburgh Steelers made a practice squad roster move on Friday as guard Jacques McClendon was released and safety Damon Cromartie-Smith was signed back after clearing waivers.
Cromartie-Smith had been waived late Tuesday so that nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu could be added back to the 53 man roster from the suspended list.
McClendon had been signed to the practice squad a few weeks ago after center Maurkice Pouncey sprained his knee against the Tennessee Titans.

The Pittsburgh Steelers waived safety Damon Cromartie-Smith on Wednesday to get back down to the league mandated 53 number.
The Steelers were granted a 48 hour roster exemption on Monday when they reinstated rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu from the suspended following his two week suspension.
Cromartie-Smith had been signed to the 53 man roster this past Saturday off of the practice squad to play special teams because cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke had been benched for committing penalties on special teams in the three previous games.
