Colbert Says Russell Release Was Salary Cap Related

Steelers director of football operations, Kevin Colbert, said on Monday that recently jettisoned running back Gary Russell was released last week to free up space salary cap wise. The Steelers needed the salary cap room to re-sign free agent backup quarterback Charlie Batch. Russell has since signed with division rival Cincinnati Bengals.
