On Monday, we passed along word to you that the Pittsburgh Steelers had waived undrafted free agent nose tackle Anthony Rashad White, but according to the official league transaction sheet put out daily by the league, the 6-1, 335-pound, White was waived injured.
White has since cleared waivers and has now reverted to the Steelers injured reserve list as a result. He does not count against the 90 man roster.
We don't know the exact nature of the injury suffered by White and his stay on the Steelers injured reserve list will likely depend on the seriousness of his injury.

Sunday Night Football producer Fred Gaudelli said in conference call just a short while ago that pop-country music star Carrie Underwood has been brought on board this season to perform the SNF opening anthem, I’ve Been Waiting All Day for Sunday Night after Faith Hill decided last month to relinquish the job after six years of kicking off the show.

Former Baltimore Ravens head coach, and current Fox Sports analyst, Brian Billick released his 2013 post draft NFL power rankings on Tuesday and he ranked the Pittsburgh Steelers, 19th overall and third of the four AFC North teams.
Here is what Billick wrote about the Steelers:
Just like the Ravens, the Steelers have had their roster depleted with cap casualties and free agency departures, but unlike the Ravens, the Steelers have done little to fill the voids and plan for the future. It could be a long year in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor was a guest Tuesday morning on the David Baumann Show on Sports Talk Florida and he talked about training year in and year out with renown trainer Tom Shaw as well as his belief that interceptions are overrated among other things.
At the beginning of the interview, Taylor was asked about why he has chosen to work out with Shaw for so many years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent tackle Guy Whimper on Monday and the contract details are pretty simple and not taxing cap wise.
According to an agent, Whimper signed a one-year qualifying contract that includes a base salary of $715,000 and no signing bonus. Being as it was a qualifying contract, the cap hit for Whimper will be $555,000. Thanks to displacement in the top 51 salaries, the Steelers only used $75,000 of cap space to sign Whimper.
Being as Whimper received no signing bonus, he will not cost the Steelers anything in the way of dead money to release should he not make

On Monday, Hall of Famer Joe Greene retired from the Pittsburgh Steelers personnel department and I couldn't help but think about the story in the Jan 28, 1969 edition of The Pittsburgh Press following the selection of Greene in the first round of the NFL draft. The fan reaction almost reads like modern day tweets on Twitter following a draft. I don't know who the author of the piece was, but it very well could have been the late Pat Livingston or the late Les Beiderman. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know. On the Monday episode of NFL Live on ESPN, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark was asked to rank his top five safeties in the league and below are his rankings.

I previously posted that Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark was a guest analyst Monday on NFL Live, and during one segment dedicated to the New England Patriots, Clark was asked to comment on them losing wide receiver Wes Welker via free agency this offseason, and how vulnerable it now makes them offensively as a result. On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent tackle Guy Whimper to help bolster their depth on the offensive line and I speculated that tackle Marcus Gilbert might not be ready for the first OTA session that takes place in a few more weeks due to him coming off ankle surgery in December. Gilbert, however, told me tonight that the ankle is indeed fine and that he plans on working during the OTA session.

Sure, it’s early, and there are still three months to go until training camp kicks off, but that won’t stop us from discussing what position will be the greatest strength of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 season. I passed along the word Sunday night that Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark would be all over ESPN this week and on Monday he was a guest analyst on NFL Live.
During the hour long show, Clark was asked if he thought that the Steelers did enough this offseason.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Monday that Hall of Famer Joe Greene has retired from their player personnel department. Greene, 66, has spent the last nine years as a special assistant for pro and college personnel.
Greene was drafted by the Steelers with the fourth overall selection in the first round of 1969 NFL draft out of North Texas and of course was part of the four Super Bowl winning teams of the 70's. He retired from the Steelers following the 1981 season after 13 years in the league and was rightfully inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in 1987.

I knew at some point this offseason that the Pittsburgh Steelers would need to address their depth at the tackle position, but I never envisioned it leading to the team signing Jacksonville Jaguars castoff Guy Whimper, who according to Pro Football Focus gave up five sacks in 2012 in less than 400 snaps played and another 14 in 2011 in a little more than 950 snaps played.
So looking forward now past the signing of Whimper, what does this do to the prospects of Max Starks returning later on in the offseason?

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a move to bolster their depth at the tackle position on Monday as it was announced that the team has come to terms with veteran free agent tackle Guy Whimper. In addition to Whimper, undrafted rookie free agent linebacker/safety Terence Garvin was also signed to the roster.
To make room for both Whimper and Garvin on the roster, the team released undrafted rookie center Ivory Wade and rookie defensive tackle Anthony Rashad White.

Season 3, Episode 100 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and talk about the news that came out of the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie camp that took place over the weekend and this leads to us eventually talking about the undrafted free agent offensive lineman that were present over the weekend. According to Kevin Acee of the The San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Diego Chargers recently tried to sign tackle Bryant McKinnie, who just re-signed back with the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend, but have yet to reach out to Pittsburgh Steelers veteran free agent tackle Max Starks.
The Chargers, as Acee eludes to in his report, still have question marks at their left tackle position, but now appear to be set to try either King Dunlap or Kevin Haslam on the left side after missing out on McKinnie.

I wrote in my post draft breakdown of Pittsburgh Steelers fifth-round draft pick Terry Hawthorne that I thought it looked like he really got up high on his toes during his back pedal after watching tape of him and apparently he gets up too high for the liking of defensive back coach Carnell Lake.
Hawthorne, who took part in the Steelers rookie camp this past weekend, said in an interview with steelers.com that him backpedaling too high was one of the areas that he received correction in over the weekend when it came to his technique.

41 players came to the 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers rookie camp and most reports suggest 41 players left without suffering a serious injury. That in itself made the first real Steelers practices of the offseason a success.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin best summed up the rookie camp on Saturday after practice.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former San Diego State right guard Nik Embernate as an undrafted free agent last week and I came away unimpressed with him after watching him play against Boise State last year.
In that game, Embernate had trouble anchoring in pass protection and was on the ground quite a bit after slipping off blocks. At that time I wondered to myself why there was such a fuss about him. Instead of researching him further, I moved on and pretty much wrote him off as being way over hyped.
Shame on me.

Are you ready for an overload of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark on ESPN this coming week? If not, you better get yourself ready, because Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated is reporting Sunday evening that Clark will be on SportsCenter, NFL Live, NFL32, and ESPN Radio starting on Monday.
According to Deitsch, Clark, who is entering the final year of his contract with Steelers, asked ESPN senior coordinating producer Seth Markman at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, if he could intern for the network over the summer in order to hone his broadcasting skills.
